In 2002, I set aside the comfort of a reliable paycheck and decided to take charge of determining my fate. It was, in part, bravery. It was, in part, stupidity. It was, in full, the best decision I ever made.
The story of my journey is also that of my company, Salt Advertising Services, which tenatively began in 2001. I took it full-time and made it official in the spring of 2002. I closed the business in December of 2011. Everything is better with a touch of ‘Salt,’ as I liked to say, and, throughout that decade of my life, I did my best to make that statement a reality for both my clients and myself.
Although I continue to do freelance advertising and graphic design work, my primary focus is on writing. I currently have a 52,000 page manuscript being considered for publication (fingers crossed) and, having completed that manuscript in November of 2011, have been working full-time preparing this story - the story of my 10-year journey of letting go.
I thank my clients for their continued trust. I am eager to continue our working relationship, although I now operate as Maria Boynton. Who I am is what you get. You can still reach me at maria@saltadvertising.com or call me at 314.680.0188.
I thank my readers and the attendees at my speaking engagements for their time, their feedback and, most delightedly, their laughter. There is no talent I seek to refine with more diligence than that of putting smiles on the faces of those around me.
As Auntie Mame said, “Life is a buffet and most poor suckers are starving to death.”
If you have a few minutes, sit down with me. Whether you know it or not, it’s time to feast!
